Bite-sized steps
I was intrigued by the suggestion of rushing into the jaws of a crocodile given by this figure climbing the stairs of a multi-storey carpark in Leamington Spa.
AI Photography
As a photograph generated by Artificial Intelligence recently won a Sony World Photography Award I thought I’d try it for a ‘framed composition’ photographic assignment.
Using Stability-AI’s open source Stable Diffusion API, I tried generating black and white photographs of a girl in Victorian costume; ‘framed’ – literally, ‘framed by a dark doorway’ and ‘under a tree’.
Interesting, with some slightly spooky results.
Kinver Edge Rock Houses
This photograph was taken at Kinver Edge Rock Houses. The girl is actually a life-sized photograph placed in a rock opening representing a child who lived here; her clothing suggests sometime around the late 1950s to early 60s.
Kinver Edge Rock Houses are located on the Kinver Edge in South Staffordshire, England. The rock houses are small dwellings that were carved into the limestone cliffs in the late 18th and early 19th centuries.
They were originally built by farm labourers who worked in the surrounding fields. The labourers used the soft sandstone to carve out single-room shelters. Over time, the rock houses evolved into permanent dwellings for some families and additional rooms and features, such as chimneys and windows, were added. They were occupied until the 1960s.
Today, the Kinver Edge Rock Houses are cared for by the National Trust.

Not a ‘true scotsman’!
There is a saying in Scotland about what a ‘true Scotsman’ wears under his kilt and it isn’t this!
